 Fear of public speaking help

When you suffer with a fear of public speaking, you see your audience as monsters and yourself as a quivering wreck who is doomed to failure. Talking to people in a meeting  may be OK, but when you stand up in front of a group everything goes out of control. You shake, your heart races, your voice becomes a mumble and everything you’ve rehearsed – all those wonderful words – just seem to vanish!

The great news is the fear of public speaking and the typical symptoms are very common. I see it every day in my work…

That means I have lots of experience in helping like you overcome and learn to control their fear of public speaking.

To overcome your fear of speaking in public email Marc or call 01622 671839 for a confidential no-obligation discussion.

I get a lot of questions about the fear of speaking in public and how it can be managed. Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.

What is the fear of public speaking?

Glossophobia (the posh name for the fear of public speaking) is recognised as the most common fear in western society. You are not born with the fear, it is a learned behaviour which can be easily “unlearned”

Can you cure anybody of the fear of public speaking?

A key foundation of my approach is not to “cure” or “eradicate” the fear of public speaking, but to positively harness the energy it creates. Every client that I have worked with has developed or improved as a speaker in some way.

So what actually happens when we meet?

Everybody is affected by the fear of public speaking in their own unique way. Through discussion you and I will learn more about how the fear manifests in you. I will lead you through examples, exercises and offer guidance – sharing techniques you can practice and put to use in the real world.

I don’t regard myself as having a fear of speaking but can you help me improve my presentations skills?

Of course – I frequently work with people who are looking to improve their performance at work and deliver a more powerful and effective sales message.

Will being a better presenter help me with my business?

Yes – Improving your public speaking skills is a great confidence booster. Imagine a more  eloquent you, delivering more dynamic presentations and communicating with your customers and colleagues more effectively.
How long will it take before I am a better speaker?

My clients typically see progress at our first meeting. Of course everyone starts at a different place and with their own goals in mind. During our initial session we’ll discuss what you’d like to achieve as a speaker and work out a programme tailored just for you.

Do you work with groups or individuals

For those with a strong fear of public speaking it is best to meet on a one-to-one basis. Those who want to improve their skills work with me either in a group, such as one of my seminars, or privately.

Where and when do we meet?

We meet at a time that suits you. Any environment where we can work undisturbed is suitable – such as your home or office or my rooms in Maidstone. Alternatively a meeting room in a hotel or conference centre can be arranged.

Do you offer consultations by telephone?

Yes – these are better suited for those who have already undertaken some speaking coaching “face to face” with me or another public speaking coach.

Do you use Hypnosis to help control my fear of public speaking?

I use visualisation exercises and teach breathing techniques to help my clients focus on the positive aspects of the public speaking experience and gain more control of their physiology. This approach brings great results without the need to use hypnotherapy.

How much will it cost?

I work on an hourly basis and my basic fee is £80 for consultations in at my office in Maidstone or at your home/office in Kent. If room hire or a longer journey is required the costs for these will be charged in addition. My initial meeting is always at least two hours.
Telephone/Skype consultations are charged at £50 per hour – the client bears the cost of the call.

Are there discounts available for block-bookings?

Yes – clients who pre-pay 5 or more sessions receive a 20% discount.

That sounds great – so how do I book?

Simply email Marc or call 07904 262138 to arrange a meeting.
